I want to transfer schools...

If you’re going to transfer - here is what you’re going to need to do

  1. Review the transfer admissions requirements - make sure you meet them. If you don’t , some schools then require you to meet freshman admissions requirements. If you meet them, complete the admissions application. If you don’t, attending a community college is the next best option.

  2. Add the new school to your 20-21 FAFSA and submit. If you were selected for verification at your current school, you’re likely to get selected again, so make sure you have that paperwork.

  3. Submit all your admissions paperwork - HS transcript, college transcript, immunization records, etc.

  4. Meet with your academic advisor at the new college - don’t know who that is? Google it. Call them, leave a v-mail (if needed), send an email. Repeat in 3 business days if you don’t hear a response.

  5. Register for your Spring classes. If you would prefer more in person classes, make sure to select for them. Use websites like ratemyprofessor.com to select professors that fit your learning style and temperament (at least as much as you can gather from the reviews on those websites).

One last thing to consider before transferring:

Why? Is it because you struggled? Changing schools won’t make that easier.

You want to be on campus? This will be more expensive - can you afford it?

Get to the root cause of why you want to transfer. Whether you transfer or not, keep pushing yourself to be more disciplined. more consistent, and more accountable. Virtual college is tough, but you CAN do it. Focus on what's in your control.
